They are great for regulation of blood sugar and blood fat levels which is crucial in heart disease prevention. Another important health benefit of eating apples is their impact on bacteria in the digestive tract. Although the best way to consume this fruit is raw, today apples are important ingredient in many recipes like apple pies, crumble, crisp and cake. Not to forget the toffee apples (coated in a hard shell of crystallized sugar syrup) and caramel apples which are a traditional confection in the UK.
